Celebration Through Gift Giving During Eid

Eid-ul-Fitr is known as the celebratory occasion in Islam, while Eid-ul-Adha is an occasion of proving loyalty to God. After one month of Ramadan, Eid day is celebrated wholeheartedly by family and friends. In Islam, charity is mandatory according to wealth status. Eid-ul-Fitr carries significant rituals: fasting, charity, and gift-giving. There is also a customary ritual where elders give cash to younger ones, called ‘salami,’ a fun activity in return for giving salaam or Islamic greetings. I am Muslim, and during childhood, every Eid’s fun part was competing with other kids to see who got more ‘salami.’ Now that I am an adult, I am sadly the giver; being on the opposite side was much more fun!

Wearing nice, new clothes and enjoying different foods are part of the occasion. Muslims give gifts to all relatives and family members with the intention of spreading happiness and celebrating together.

Traditional Clothes

Eid is coming, and Muslims’ mandatory action is buying new clothes. All the family members buy new clothes for each other. For women, kurtas, abayas, and burqas are common traditional clothes that vary from country to country. For men, Panjabi is the most common wear among Muslims. For Eid gifts, giving clothes is the most popular option.

Not only for family but providing new clothes to those in need in the neighborhood is also considered Sunnah.

Gift Box With Islamic Prayer Items

A gift box with tasbih, a prayer mat, perfume, and the Quran is a gift every Muslim will love. Having a new set of these items is always appreciated, so there’s no issue with repetition.

Dried Fruits and Food Basket

Dates, dry fruits, and nuts are the most eaten items in Ramadan. So, giving a food basket is a well-thought-out gift that everyone will enjoy. Cakes, sweets, and chocolates are also mouthwatering options to include in the gift basket.

Hijab Box Set

Every Muslim girl who wears a hijab knows the happiness of getting a hijab box as a gift. It’s never possible to have too many hijabs. With every new dress, the need for new colors or shades of hijab emerges. Different designs of hijabs, pins, inner caps, brooches, and hijab magnets are the best gifts for a hijabi girl. If you’re thinking about what to give a hijabi girl, consider this customized gift box—it will definitely bring a smile to her face.

Gift Box for Boys

Wallets, watches, perfume sets, knitted prayer hats, and Panjabis are the most common items given to men during Eid. There aren’t many unique options, but customizing according to their taste will make the gift more appealing.

Oil Attar Perfume

An exciting and most usable item among Muslims. Some Muslims avoid perfume due to its alcohol content. For fragrance, perfumes with non-alcoholic essence, called ‘attar,’ are widely used. I have a huge collection of attar oils. Attars are slightly different from perfumes in terms of elements and consistency. Those who use attar love to have a collection similar to perfumes. So, giving a box of different attar scents to someone like me is a lovely idea.

Eid Card

Children exchanging Eid cards with each other is nostalgic for me. The excitement of making cards for friends and family to wish ‘Eid Mubarak’ as a child is such a cherished memory. Ready-made Eid cards are available in online and offline shops, though handmade ones are incomparable. Giving an Eid card is never outdated among kids.

Spa Gift Set

During Eid, the vacation is celebrated by removing all stress, pampering oneself through self-care, and enjoying food with loved ones. A spa basket is always a thoughtful gift idea to show someone you care.

Jewelry

Women love jewelry, no matter the occasion or event. Giving jewelry as a gift to a woman during Eid adds double happiness to the celebration.
